The Monkeemobiles Differences


The Monkeemobiles

     What did Dean Jeffries designed and
built really look like if everyone of these
are wrong? I have pictures, but don't 
copy them. One the blacked out three
injector baffles in the scoop. #1 car was
the only car two have both a blacked
out three baffle injector scoop and also
the yellow blower. The blower cover
was different then the number one in
the grooves on the blower cover.
Sad to say, Dean Jeffries left the original
two speed automatic transmission in the
car. When had the rotors in the blower,
the engine couldn't transfer the horse-
power to the real wheels. This two-speed
had only drive and reverse. Nesmith said:
"It was driving a tank." So they pulled
out the rotors and Peter Tork said: It had
a vacuum leak and could do only 40 MPH.
He said this on You Tube. The Monkees 
episode:" The Monkees VS The Machines.
It's the Narrated Version. Then Peter Tork
added: "Dean Jeffries left the  two-speed
automatic transmission in the original
Monkeemobile." This was of the dumbest
things Dean Jeffries has done. I guess he
learn this in the stunt car also known as
the #2 car The Monkeemobile. 
   

     Are any of these cars completely correct?
 No. The #1 has the wrong The Monkees 
banisters of the doors. The front wheels 
are returned to stock height. The front 
tires are regular fifteen inch tires not the
lower wide oval tires.
    The #2 car is totally wrong, then ruined
and took the credit for Dean Jeffries
design. George Barris was sulking and 
also grinning when the Los Angeles judge
ruled in favor of George Barris in early
1990's. Why? The judge said: " Whoever 
bought the car owns the copyrights." This 
made George Barris in 2006 totally alter  
The Monkeemobile. First the four pipes 
on the side of the painted gold blower was 
changed to three, like the mpc model kit
copyrighted 1967. It was made from the 
number two car not number one, because
in the second season it was used. The 
blower was repainted gold. Injector scoop
was to have a full chrome scoop. The body 
was repainted Raspberry instead of 
lipstick red. The top was now white 
upholstered instead of tan. Inside the white
was dyed black with chrome bands. The
dashboard was removed and replace with
battery to charged computerized graphic
video system installed that was to mounted
to the back of the second row of seats, but
took up so much room, that you had to sit in
the middle of the bench seat. The wide oval
tire with mag wheel with wings was replaced
with a different type of hood ornament. 
When you lift up the rear bench seat a  type
of Monkees shaped logo wolfer in chrome
was installed. The exterior The Monkees logo
banners are enlarge to size of the #1 car did
have. See the #2 car had  much smaller  then 
The Monkees banners then #1  car. The cool
parachute was yellow, but it was replaced in 
white. The car was passed off both by George
Barris and Barret Jackson as the original 
Monkeemobile. This is fraud!
    You all bought it. Even Auto World made a 
white top version like this car. 
   The #3 car not shown was a 1966 Catalina
with Pontiac GTO grills and bumpers. It was
not authorized by Dean Jeffries. In either end
 of 1971 or 1972. 

    Universal Studios owned both  creations,
The Black Beauties and Monkeemobiles. He
offered Dean Jeffries $1500 a piece for each
on the cars. The #1 Black Beauty and #2 
Monkeemobile. Universal Studios wanted 
Jeffries to trailer #1 Black Beauty to car
shows. The trailer had black and  white 
pictures on the #1 car. His work load was
too much so he had his parents trailer the
car to shows. After they were done, George
Barris bought both cars for $1500 a piece.
He had commissioned Dick Dean to build
a third car using a 1966 Pontiac Catalina 
and use 1966 Pontiac GTO grills and also 
bumpers to offset the shortage of cars of
The Monkees, Monkeemobile.
    Dick Dean knew the construction of 
The Monkees, The Monkeemobile perfectly,
since he helped Dean Jeffries build both cars.
He also knew construction of both Black 
Beauties, since he built them also with
Dean Jeffries. 
   The #4 car was built by Dick Dean for 
Barris for promoting the AMT model of 
The Monkeemobile. Dick Dean took a 
different approach in the tires chosen. He 
went with skinny thin redline tires and a
also Craigar SS Diamond Spoke mag 
wheels. The rear tires were two stock redline
fifteen inch tires mounted on the same mags 
as the front with four knock offs. It was to
look like a number # 1 with a #2 gold blower.
It was auctioned by Mecum Auctions and the
was sold to the winning bidder in Florida. He 
calls it his Florida Monkeemobile. The owner
then changed the tires to wide ovals like the
first two cars.
    The fifth Monkeemobile was made for 2011
of The Monkees 45th Anniversary Reunion
Tour. The car was a 1967 Pontiac GTO with
Dean Jeffries design. The megaphone pipes on
both sides were a little skinny compared to
the first two cars. The mags had no knock offs,
unless someone put them on later. It had 
The Monkees logos instead of banisters on the 
doors. "The Monkees 45th Anniversary" was
shown when opened on black parachute.
     The sixth no shown is a real joke. The man
had cut outs in rectangular for the lights then
giving it French type custom headlights. He 
went with a stock looking horizonal  pattern
for the buckets seats. It bug eye bulging 
Cooper tires with American Racing five spoke
mags. It had a big block engine with real
blower, blower belt, with  two four barrel 
carburetors with competition scoop  It just
look stupid. He wanted $100,000 for it.
     Now comes #7 car. This car was built of a
1965 Malibu chassis. It had  a 1966 GTO body,
a 350 CID engine bought from Dean Jeffries. 
The buck was made from one of the two these
original cars. It has the dash board pieces from
the #2 car that George Barris took out. It even
has the  cars  #2 Monkeemobile's mag wheels.
The megaphone pipes are hooked in  the back
and give a beautiful throaty sound when revved
up. The tires are different brands but work
since they are the correct size. It was built by
Mr. Sharp. It was last time up for auction again 
for $60,000 again on eBay.. However it has
logos like the album and not The Monkees type
Dean Jeffries bannister logos. (True fact, Dean 
Jeffries had a hard time creating the logos for 
The Monkees, so he did his best and made them
like banisters for The Monkees.) 
    What about the original Monkeemobile?
Besides what I mentioned, the guy still has logos
in yellow, which the right side version is really
stupid. He makes small "m" reversed ending a
Large "S" where the Large "M" is to go. We are
talking about "Monkees" on the right door.  I
still couldn't believe it.
     It still has a blacked out three injector scoop
and yellow blower with yellow parachute. A yellow
Monkees logo was incorporated #4 AMT  model
The Monkeemobile.
     Race Champions made their 1:18 from this car. 
The tires were all wrong. See I owned both the 
original MPC model of The Monkeemobile  
copyrighted 1967. Remember it was made from the
second car not the original. This model had the 
correct tires. In 1977 Fonzie's Dream Rod had the
same tires. But in 1979 they moved the original tires
to The More American Graffiti Yellow Deuce Coupe,
Milner drove. I know I sold both to my brother in
Auburn, Georgia in 2010. 
    When George Barris came out with AMT brand
Monkeemobile they put for 70's MPC van tires in 
the kit.I was so mad about this.
     Blue Printer AMT/ERTL did make a plain box
molded in red of the model. 
     Lastly their are two versions of Round 2 mpc. 
Monkeemobile. However, Rhino Entertainment owns
the copyrights two this band. Therefore, they didn't 
want The Monkees behind the car. Round 2 removed.
 The Monkees , but left the model box art of the car
looking original. They just added flowers behind
where The Monkees picture were.  


     Mecum Auctions is passing #3 Monkeemobile
with dark rich brown upholstery as a original 
Pontiac GTO. This is fraud, just like George
Barris and Barret Jackson passing the #2
Monkeemobile off like the # 1 Monkeemobile.

    How was the #1 Monkeemobile original 
purchase? In 1991 a man who lived in New York
contacted to curator of the car in, I believe ,in
Tijuana Mexico. Anyway it's around there. The
man spoke Spanish who was asking about #1.
Monkeemobile to the curator. He realized this
Is the  real original #1 car. He gave phone bid of 
$500, but the curator, said the minimum bid was
$5,000. So the man in New York paid the curator
$5,000 for the original Monkeemobile. He never
corrected the custom wheel height,  smaller 
wide oval tires in the front or the correct type of
banners on doors The Monkees had on the side. 
    Hey they are cool to own, even yours is fake or
a clone. It draws attention to these four talented 
band members: Davy Jones, Micky Dolenz, Peter
 Tork and Michael Nesmith.
    Even Though we lost Davy Jones and Peter Tork,
we can still listen to them by recordings on records,
45's, CDs, iTunes,video. They are still with us.
    Don't forget The Monkees  Tour with Michael
Nesmith and Micky Dolenz is huge in the US for
